Chapbook
This is a chapbook based on the history of the Victorian period of design. I chose to do the history of photography. I used text appropriated from an online source for the body
copy and separated the information with different headings. I wanted the book to feel old since photography dates back many years. I used brown for the main headings and auburn for my subheadings. I found many images to relate to the book and the history of photography. I wanted to integrate negative space to give the book a feeling of nostalgia. I chose the colors to replicate sepia tones. I also added an old film strip on each page to align to the body copy blocks.
In addition to the chapbook, I created packaging to relate to the aesthetic of the book. I chose to do a photo album. I added old family photos in it, since the chapbook was based on the history of photography. I also replaced the end pages from the book as a cover for the photo album. All the images I chose for the photo album were black and white or sepia toned to relate to the colors I chose in the book.
